Adoption

Could adoption be right for me?

While it can be a very difficult choice to make, choosing adoption for your pregnancy can be an incredibly selfless and courageous decision. In many cases, adoption allows something positive and beautiful to come from difficult circumstances. Adoption could be right for you if any of the following are true:

  • You are still in school and don’t know how you’d raise a child
  • You feel too young or immature to parent
  • You do not want to be a parent but don’t want to have an abortion
  • You aren’t sure how you’d emotionally or financially support a child
  • You don’t have a strong support system in place

How much control would I have during the adoption process?

As the birthmother, you would essentially be in control of every aspect of the adoption process. From hand picking the adoptive couple or family for your child to deciding how involved, if at all, you want to be in the child’s life. It is completely up to you, and you can change your mind up until birth.

Won’t my child hate me if I place him or her up for adoption?

Absolutely not! Children who are adopted into families are on average incredibly well-adjusted. More than 90 percent of adopted kids over the age of 5 have positive feelings regarding their adoption, and nearly 3 out of every 4 children who have been adopted are read to or sung to every day. Adopted children are loved, treasured, and highly-valued by their adoptive families.
